“Surprising Revelation: Kamal Haasan and Sridevi revealed to be siblings”
Kamal Haasan and Sridevi were known as one of the most beloved on-screen pairs in Bollywood. They starred in several iconic hit films together. However, Kamal Haasan once revealed that their off-screen relationship was more like siblings, and they used to laugh when asked to perform romantic scenes on-screen.
At the India Today Conclave in Mumbai in 2018, Kamal Haasan shared some fond memories of his co-star, Sridevi. He talked about the close bond they shared and how they considered each other as siblings. He praised Sridevi as an iconic figure for the people.
Recalling their first meeting when they were teenagers, Kamal Haasan said, “Sridevi and I met when she was 15 or 16. We were cast together in a movie as a pair, but we ended up growing up like siblings. It felt like we were classmates, but in reality, we were like brother and sister.”
Explaining further, he mentioned how their off-screen relationship made it funny for them to perform romantic scenes on-screen. He said, “We found it hilarious to do those romantic scenes as if we were from the same family. Losing her felt like losing a relative to me.”
It was revealed during the conversation that Kamal Haasan played a significant role in helping Sridevi with her acting career. He mentioned that despite their different paths later on, he was chosen to guide her since he had attended acting classes.
The actor also shared how Sridevi would twist his teachings on acting and always addressed him respectfully as ‘sir’.
For those unaware, Kamal Haasan and Sridevi appeared in around 27 films together, including classics like Sadma, Kuttavum Sikshayum, Apoorva Raagangal, and Meendum Kokila.
