Authorities continued to monitor the couple’s communication, including letters Dennis wrote to his wife. In one letter dated Dec. 12, 2019, he changed part of his story.
According to Dennis, Aundria fell but he buried her in “a proper grave” next to a local graveyard. He described wrapping her in a white sheet, encasing her in a tarp with cedar chips, cloves, and cinnamon. Dennis claimed to have driven by the site more than 100 times over 30 years.
Investigators, as shown on Into the Fire, searched near graveyards for a potential burial site. Despite skepticism, they urged Brenda to press Dennis for the truth.
In a recorded conversation, Dennis eventually admitted that Aundria was buried in their backyard. He explained that he had initially buried her in a barrel at their previous home and later moved the barrel to their current residence.
“She’s been right there the whole time,” he confessed.
