Crew Member from 9-1-1 Team Passes Away in Car Crash Following Exhausting 14-Hour Shift
9-1-1 is currently mourning a heartbreaking loss.
Rico Priem, a grip on the ABC series, tragically passed away in a car accident on May 11 after a long 14-hour overnight shift, as confirmed by his union IATSE Local 80.
The California Highway Patrol informed TVLine that Priem’s vehicle veered off the road while he was driving home, went up an embankment, and overturned. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the site of the crash, which occurred around 4:20 in the morning. The cause of the accident is still being investigated.
E! News has contacted local authorities and 20th Television, the production company behind 9-1-1, for comments but has not yet received a response.
In a statement, IATSE Local 80 President Matthew Loeb expressed, “The IA family is deeply saddened and shocked by this tragic loss. We are committed to providing support to the family of our member, as well as their colleagues. Safety is our top priority, and we will cooperate with any investigations to the best of our abilities.”
