Billy Crudup Gives Naomi Watts a Shoutout While Winning Outstanding Supporting Actor at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards for “The Morning Show”
Billy Crudup celebrated his win at the 76th annual Emmy Awards. The renowned actor was honored with the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role in The Morning Show.
During his acceptance speech at the prestigious event on September 15, 2024, Crudup expressed his gratitude towards his wife, Naomi Watts.
Describing his win as an “incredible honor,” Crudup thanked everyone and acknowledged his wife, who he referred to as his “piece of eye candy” and highlighted her immigrant background and outstanding performance that year, which earned her an Emmy nomination.
Watts, aged 55, was nominated in the Outstanding Actress in a Limited Series or Movie category for her portrayal of Babe Paley in Feud: Capote vs. The Swans.
Crudup also mentioned the impact of his educators and the writers of the series, crediting them for enabling him to excel in his craft.
He recognized the influence of Ron Van Lieu, his mentor, in shaping his acting techniques and skills as he revisited them while working on the show.
In addition to his wife, Crudup also greeted his children during his speech, acknowledging their presence and watching him on screen.
The Morning Show dominated the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series category at the Emmy Awards, with Crudup’s co-stars Mark Duplass and Jon Hamm receiving nominations as well.
Other nominees in the category included Tadanobu Asano and Takehiro Hira from Shogun, Jack Lowden from Slow Horses, and Jonathan Pryce from The Crown.
The Morning Show received multiple nominations across various categories at the Emmy Awards, with Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon also being nominated.
Furthermore, the show was recognized in categories such as Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, and Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series.
In the Outstanding Lead Actress in a limited or anthology series or movie category, Watts competed against other talented actresses, with the award ultimately going to Jodie Foster.
